Pages and ribbons

Use + on the ribbon to add a spread. Free notebooks contain up to two spreads (four writing pages). Cartavie Pro unlocks more pages. In portrait the notebook shows one page; landscape normally shows two. The ribbon uses the centre when safe, otherwise the edge opposite the writing page. Use … → Settings → Ribbon studio to choose a design, thread finish, and Sparse or Dense stitching.

Photos

Use the photo control to select a picture. Use Move to arrange, resize, or rotate it, then finish moving to resume writing. Deleting an image offers Undo delete for the most recent deletion.

Purchases

Cartavie Pro is a one-time purchase for unlimited pages and 300 DPI PDF export. The App Store displays the current price before purchase. Restore Purchases is in Settings. Use the Apple Account that bought Pro. Refund requests are handled by Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com/.

Fairy Painter

Fairy Painter needs an Apple Intelligence-compatible device with Image Playground available and configured. An iPad mini with A15 does not support this feature. Check Apple Intelligence & Siri settings and complete Image Playground setup on a supported device. Writing, photos, and PDF export do not require Fairy Painter.

Export a printable booklet

Choose … → Export PDF → Booklet. Each PDF page represents one side of an A4 landscape sheet; consecutive PDF pages form a front/back pair. The PDF already includes booklet page ordering. Standard PDF instead exports flat spreads and should not be folded as a booklet.

Printer settings

Open the saved PDF in Files or Preview on a Mac. Choose A4, landscape, one page per sheet side, normal order, and double-sided with short-edge binding. Do not enable the printer’s Booklet or two-pages-per-sheet feature. Use Actual Size only if your printer can print the full page; otherwise use Fit to printable area consistently.

Proof print before printing everything

Print PDF pages 1–2 double-sided. Fold the sheet with the front cover outside and check the reverse is upright. If upside down, change the duplex binding edge and repeat. For manual duplex, mark a spare sheet to determine feed direction, then print page 1 and reinsert for page 2; repeat for each pair.

Assemble the notebook

Print every PDF page, including intentional blanks. Keep each front/back pair together. Sheet 1 is outermost; nest sheet 2 inside it, and continue in preview order. Fold down the vertical centre, check page sequence, and staple or stitch the fold. Use paper approved for your printer. For thick notebooks, consult a print shop.

Backups and deletion

Notebooks are stored locally. Settings provides notebook backup controls, and PDF export preserves a readable copy. Save important backups outside the app before uninstalling. Deleting the app removes local notebooks; an exported PDF is not an editable notebook backup. There is no automatic notebook sync between devices.
